My Story
My name is Aaron Harbert and I founded Aegis Response during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 with the purpose of increasing the preparedness and self-reliance abilities of individuals. I saw first hand how frail and dependent our society has become on technology and external services to make daily life possible in the US. My company is dedicated to increasing the knowledge and skills of individuals to help protect themselves and their families from many types of threats (foreign, domestic, environmental, biological, etc).
My background is as diverse as the classes I teach. After graduating high school I attended college at Sacramento State University obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Philosophy with a concentration in Applied Ethics and Law. From there I joined the US Army where I trained as a combat medic and completed 4 years of active duty service. During my time in the Army I had the privilege of training with soldiers and civilians of all different backgrounds primarily from the Special Operations community focusing on humanitarian aid and emergency response. This inspired me to increase my knowledge and education in this field and I began to pursue a Masters degree in that field. In 2017 I completed my Masters degree in Emergency and Disaster Management with a Homeland Security Emphasis. This degree allowed me to transition back into the civilian world into my current occupation.
I now work as a Paramedic in Yolo County CA in the 911 system for AMR and have been actively in the field since 2016. In addition to working the ambulance I am a member of the FEMA strike team where I have deployed to disaster areas in the wake of hurricanes or other natural disasters. I also obtained a job teaching for Sierra College as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Health Science Department since 2017. I love teaching and have taken this passion and made it into my own business as Aegis Response.
I’m always looking for ways to improve myself and increase my knowledge in the field of self-reliance and teach those lessons learned to my community to help those around me become better educated and prepared to respond to many types of emergencies. My company hosts a variety of training classes and will continue to seek out opportunities to grow in my local community. I look forward to seeing you in one of our many upcoming courses!
